Privacy
This page describes how the site actually works. Operator: WildLens Journal, an independent publisher based in the United Arab Emirates. Effective date: 5 November 2026.
Summary
- No accounts, no sign-up and no email collection.
- No advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- Your saved items and settings stay in your browser.
- Thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers, and videos play from YouTube when you click them. Privacy mode in Settings turns both off until you confirm.
Stored in your browser
We use your browser's local storage under the key wildlens:prefs:v1. It holds:
- the IDs of items you saved, hid, or marked as watched;
- the topics you chose;
- your theme (light, dark or match your device);
- whether privacy mode is on;
- the IDs of videos you opened (your History on this site).
This data is never sent to us. You can export, import or delete it in Settings, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
YouTube content
Videos are played by YouTube's official embedded player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Privacy-enhanced mode reduces some tracking but does not stop it.
- Thumbnails: video pictures load from YouTube's image server (
i.ytimg.com), so your browser contacts YouTube when a page with thumbnails is shown. - Playing a video: when you click a video, your browser loads YouTube's player. YouTube and Google receive your IP address and browser information, and may store data on your device.
YouTube's processing is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Turn on privacy mode in Settings to show our own graphics instead of thumbnails and to confirm before each video plays; until then nothing on the page contacts YouTube.
Our server
The site is hosted on Cloudflare (Workers Static Assets and Workers KV). Like any web host, it processes technical request data, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Our Worker is configured not to record per-request logs, and to strip query strings from its logs, so we do not keep a record of which pages or videos you look at. The hosting provider's own security and traffic processing is covered by its privacy policy. We keep only operational counts from the scheduled metadata refresh, such as how many records were updated.
Video details shown alongside our notes (current title, channel name, duration) come from the YouTube Data API. Our server fetches them on a schedule, not on your behalf, and deletes them automatically within 21 days unless they are refreshed.
Children
This is a general-audience site for adults. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Your rights and contact
Because we hold no personal data about you on our servers, there is normally nothing for us to access or delete; your browser holds your choices. For questions, contact wildlensjournal@gmail.com. Applicable law: United Arab Emirates.
